Lander Foundation & Monica Martin Stranch Endowed Professorships
Faculty members are asked to nominate two (2) persons from among the current full-time tenured Lander faculty for consideration for the Lander Foundation Endowed Professorship and the Monica Martin Stranch Endowed Professorship.
The two professorships are awarded for three-year terms and each provides an annual award of $7,000. Recipients may elect to (a) use the funds as support for professional development activities (e.g., to pay travel costs or to purchase materials or equipment) on a reimbursable basis from the Lander Foundation or (b) as a summer salary stipend paid through the University by the Foundation. If a recipient elects to receive the salary stipend, those funds are subject to all withholding expenses and taxes (and therefore the amount paid is reduced accordingly), does accrue toward retirement, and is subject to the state’s 40 per cent limitation on summer remuneration for nine-month employees. Recipients will receive the stipend begins summer, 2004, and is awarded through the summer, 2006. Any one faculty member may be awarded only one endowed professorship for any three year period.
The recipient of each endowed professorship is appointed by the Lander Board of Trustees upon the recommendation of the President of the University who will have consulted with the Endowed Professorship Selection Committee.
The Selection Committee is composed of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (chair), the chair of the Faculty Senate, a representative of the Academic Unit Heads—who may not be the chair/dean/director of the Senate chair’s unit—chosen by the Unit Heads, the president of the alumni Association, and the president of the Student Government Association.
