Office of Financial Aid

WITHDRAWALS

To Begin the Withdrawal Process

For information on how to begin the withdrawal process, go to the Registrar's website at http://www.lander.edu/registrar/resources/drop-withdrawal-temporaryleave.html.

Aid and Charges Adjustments

Students who completely withdraw from any given term will be subject to the Lander University Institutional Refund policy or, for recipients of federal Title IV aid, to the Return of Title IV Funds policy. Details are available on the Business Office website at http://www.lander.edu/business_office  and in the University Catalog.

Effect on Satisfactory Academic Progress

The Office of Financial Aid is required to monitor a student's Satisfactory Academic Progress as part of financial aid eligibility.  This includes not only GPA minimums, but maximum attempted  hours and the ratio of earned hours versus attempted hours.  Withdrawals count as attempted hours.  To review the complete Satisfactory Academic Policy, go to http://www.lander.edu/finaid/sap.html.

Effect on Federal Student Loans

Students who have received Federal Perkins Student Loans will be instructed to receive Exit Counseling with the Student Accounts Office.  Students who have received Federal Stafford Student Loans will be sent Exit Counseling information from the Office of Financial Aid.  Exit Loan Counseling provides important information about how and when you must repay your student loan; how to qualify for deferments; and how to avoid delinquencies or a default on your loan.  For more specific information on Stafford Student Loans, you can also contact your lender.

You can view your current year loan information on the Bearcat Web.  You can view your Federal student loan history that has been reported to the National Student Loan Data System at www.nslds.ed.gov using your federal PIN.  (For information on retrieving your PIN number, go to www.pin.ed.gov.)
