Office of Financial Aid
Transfering to Lander
If you plan to transfer to Lander University, you must complete the following steps in order to be considered for financial assistance:
-
Transfer students must have been admitted to Lander University (Admissions requirements are here) and must have their current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file in our office by November 15 for the spring semester or June 1 for the fall semester. Applications submitted after this date will be processed; however, aid may not be available by the first day of classes.
-
If you wish to be considered for financial assistance at Lander, call the federal processor at 1-800-433-3243 or visit the FAFSA website to request that Lander University receive your financial aid information. The school code for Lander University is 003435. You must file a correction (either online or by telephone) and request that Lander University be added as a school to receive the results of your FAFSA.
-
Send a written notice to the financial aid office at your prior school to cancel any scheduled awards for future terms.
-
If you had student loans at your prior school, you will have to complete an exit interview.
-
Your financial aid award at Lander University will be based on the academic credits that have been accepted and posted as of the day your financial aid award is made. Late transfer credits may result in higher loan eligibility.
-
In order to be eligible for federal aid, a student must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress. Students who are in an undergraduate program (which includes a second undergraduate degree) and have attempted 187 hours at all institutions are no longer eligible for federal aid at Lander. Late transfer credits may result in a loss of aid during a semester. If you feel you may be close to this limit, please contact the Office of Financial aid at 864-388-8340 to discuss alternative aid options. For a copy of the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy, click here. This policy applies to some state aid as well, such as the SC Teacher Loan Program.
Undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in a degree-seeking program may be considered for financial assistance. Students admitted as non-degree students are not eligible for federal or state aid.
Students admitted for the summer who need financial assistance must meet the April 1 priority deadline for summer school financial aid applications and have the FAFSA on file for both the preceding and upcoming academic year.
