ITS Assistance with Equipment Moves and Changes

 

Moving to a new Office? Help Information Technology Services to help you have a smooth transition to your new location.

 

When You Find Out You Are Going to Move:
  • Please enter a work order request by calling the ITS Help Desk at (864) 388-8234 or by sending an Email request to ticket@lander.edu as early as possible before your move.
  • To insure priority service, make sure that your work order request is submitted at least three full business days prior to your move. We understand that sometimes you are not notified about a move until the last minute. In those cases, we will make every effort to assist you in a timely manner; however, there may be other work already scheduled for the same time period.
  • Be sure to provide details:
    • Identify the IT equipment that will need to be moved.
    • Identify the building and number of the office from which your equipment will be removed.
    • Identify the building and number of the office to which it will be moved.
    • Let us know your scheduled move date.
    • Provide your contact information in case there are questions.
 
On the Day of Your Move:
  • Please make sure that ITS Technicians have clear access to your IT equipment.
  • Make sure that you have backed-up important files on your computer. (Instructions can be found here: http://www.lander.edu/its/services/techservices/filebackup.html )
  • Label the IT equipment to be moved with a post-it note that includes your name, location moved from, and new location. This will help our technicians identify which equipment needs to be moved. Equipment that is not labeled will not be moved.
  • If possible, plan to be available at your new office location to let technicians know where you would like your equipment placed and to test your equipment once it has been moved. If you are not present when your equipment is moved into your new office and adjustments are needed, a new work order will be entered and a technician dispatched as available, so you may experience a delay in return to services.
 
Please Note:
  • ITS will help you move your IT equipment (computer, monitor, printer, scanner, keyboard, mouse, docking station, and external drive) only.
  • For assistance moving your office furniture, filing cabinets, pictures for your wall, etc… please contact the Physical Plant at (864) 388-8200.
  • For assistance moving and reconnecting your phone service, please contact Engineering Services at (864) 388-8223.
  • If your new office already has a network jack installed, please plan to use the existing network jack. Installing new network jacks or moving existing jacks when there is an existing jack creates an unnecessary work load and will be considered only in extreme circumstances and when work load allows.
