Opportunities
Your chemistry education at Lander will give you the opportunity to move beyond the traditional academic confies of classrooms and laboratories and out into professional settings where you can put your knowledge to work.
For example, juniors and seniors have the opportunity to work with individual faculty members on independent research projects that may lead to publication or a presentation at a professional meeting.
Also, through Lander's Cooperative Education program, you can combine classroom instruction with actual work experience in area industries, receiving both academic credit and a paycheck for your efforts.
When you graduate from our chemistry program, you will leave with a well-rounded education that will open many career doors for you. More importantly, your chemistry degree from Lander tells prospective employers you have learned how to think - a skill that will help you in any career you decide to pursue.
Recent Lander graduates have accepted positions with many area companies including: Davis & Floyd, DHEC, Fuji, and Solutia. They are working as research associates, production supervisors, quality control technicians, and environmental specialists.
Chemistry is also an excellent foundation for graduate study in a wide variety of fields including all branches of chemistry, medicine, dentistry, and veterinary medicine. Recent Lander graduates have been accepted into doctoral programs in chemistry at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, Georgia Tech, Auburn University, Clemson University, Florida State University, and the University of Kentucky.
