Student Health Services
General Information
The Lander University Student Health Center offers a variety of healthcare services, programs and information resources to help students maintain optimal emotional and physical health.
The Center is staffed by two registered nurses during regular hours and medical doctors from MCFM (Montgomery Center for Family Medicine) are contracted to care for medical needs of the students.
The Student Health Center is located in Genesis hall next to the Lander University Police.
Lander University Student Health Services provides the services of an on-campus registered nurse, and access to off-campus physicians to students. Medical doctors at the Montgomery Center for Family Medicine serve as the University physicians.
The Lander Student Health Services provides for sick visits to the Montgomery Center for Family Medicine and routine nursing treatment at Student Health Services.
Students who need emergency treatment will be transported to Self Regional Health Care Emergency Room or to Express Care of Self Regional. The student is responsible for all associated fees.
A registered nurse is on duty in the Student Health Services Office from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Fridays during the fall and spring semesters. During summer sessions the office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Students in need of health care during these hours must see the University nurse.
During the night or on weekends, or should the office be closed students who are sick should call 8222 (University Police) for assistance.
In case of an emergency on campus, immediately report the name of the person involved, the location, and the nature of the problem to University Police at 8911; University Police will notify the Emergency Medical Service.
Participation in physical activity always involves a risk of injury. Therefore, students should have adequate insurance coverage before enrolling in any physical education activity class or participating in intramural sports.
Lander University or the Division of PEES are NOT responsible for medical
expenses resulting from participation (other than routine care for resident students) in physical
education activity or classes or from participation in intramural sports. Non-resident students are
RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL MEDICAL EXPENSES.
