How to report crimes & other emergencies
IN CASE OF EMERGENCY
Dial 8911 if calling from a Campus Phone
Dial (864) 388-8222 if calling from a cell or other off-campus phone.
Student, faculty and staff are encouraged to report any criminal activity, suspicious situations or emergencies to the University Police Department by dialing 8911.
Individuals also may report incident in person at the Departments headquarters at the Genesis Bldg. Police officers may be reached from the emergency numbers listed below.
The University has installed an emergency telephone network on campus to enable the Lander community to call for help or to notify the University Police Department in the event of an emergency.
The system is comprised of twenty-seven stations, each consisting of a telephone call box mounted on a pole with a speaker, number pad, and two large buttons. The red button will activate the emergency system and automatically dial the University Police Department. The black button enables the caller to make routine on-campus telephone calls.

The following information will help you avoid injury and help Lander University return to normal operations in the shortest time possible following an emergency or disaster.
In An Emergency:
Do avoid panic by staying calm, using common sense, and rendering assistance where needed.
Do evacuate buildings in an orderly and rapid fashion upon the request of authorities, activation of fire alarm, or if a situation becomes threatening.
Do seek out and remember the locations of at least two exits you could use in an emergency.
Do keep a flashlight and batteries stored in your resident hall, or office if you are a faculty or staff member.
Do Not use the telephone for reasons other than emergency purposes.
Do Not use elevators in case of fire.
Do Not jeopardize your life or the lives of others by attempting to save property.
Do Not cross police barriers without authorization.
Do Not delay in reporting an emergency to the University Police
